Counsellor BA. Hons, Dip Couns, MA
NCS Accredited Registrant. I have been working as a counsellor and therapist for over 27 years since qualifying in 1992, in the NHS, private sector, private practice and the charitable sector. I am a published author having written 'Counselling In The Workplace' (2003) OUPress. I am an experienced clinical supervisor and provided supervision for University of Leicester and several charities.
Currently I work part-time as a senior supervisor and have my private counselling practice, at my home address, in the centre of Northampton.
After an introductory session we will agree what maybe helpful for you and decide if short term or long term counselling is appropriate.
Each session is 50 minutes long and usually at the same time each week.
I provide long term therapy and counselling for people who want to explore the underlying origins and causes of some of the anxieties. depression, or relationship issues that they have. This includes weekly sessions until they find that they have gained a deeper understanding of themselves and the world they live in, and been able to realise some lasting changes to their situation, circumstances and way of seeing the world. My long term therapeutic approach is based on a psychodynamic/psychoanalytic model of counselling and therapy. I provide a consistent, patient and warm therapeutic environment for people to understand, reflect and develop.
I offer short-term and long term counselling for a range of issues including depression, anxiety, work-related stress, recovery from addictions, self-esteem and confidence issues, family dynamics, relationships, existential matters, identity, sexuality and gender, trauma, recovery from abuse and other issues.
I can offer solution focussed/eclectic/CBT based brief counselling if required for a fixed length of time or number of sessions.
I am an experienced clinical supervisor and can offer small group or individual supervision. As an experienced organisational consultant and academic tutor I can work with groups and leaders in organisational settings.
Private appointments are available usually Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between 9am and 7pm.
Fees per session are up to £50 and can be negotiated depending upon ability to pay and income. If a session is missed or cancelled with less than 24 hours notice the full fee will be payable.
